About This Program

Financial literacy is no longer optional for managers and business leaders. Every business decision-whether in marketing, operations, HR, or strategy has financial implications. This two-day Management Development Program (MDP) on “Finance Essentials for Business Executives” is designed to equip participants with the essential understanding of financial concepts, tools, and decision-making frameworks. The program provides a practical and managerial perspective on how to interpret fnancial information, understand cost behaviour, evaluate investments, and relate macroeconomic indicators to business performance.

Key Program Features

  1. Interpret key financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement) and use fundamental ratios to assess business performance.
  2. Link macroeconomic indicators such as GDP growth, infation, interest rates, and exchange rates with strategic and operational decisions.
  3. Evaluate investment and business decisions using core financial tools such as NPV, IRR, and Payback Period.
  4. Understand cost structures and apply cost information for pricing, budgeting, and proftability analysis.
  5. Develop financial acumen to communicate effectively with finance professionals and participate confdently in organizational decision-making.

Program is thoughtfully designed into 5 modules to be delivered over 2 days.

  • Module 1 - Role of Macroeconomic Indicators in Business Decision Making Understanding how GDP growth, infation, interest rates, and exchange rates impact business performance and strategic planning
  • Module 2 - Introduction to Financial Statements & Fundamental Ratios Learning to interpret Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement, and analyze key ratios to assess fnancial health
  • Module 3 - Financial Tools for Evaluating Investment Decisions Applying NPV, IRR, and Payback Period techniques for practical investment and project eval
  • Module 4 - - Overview of the Indian Financial Markets Exploring the structure, functions, and regulations of capital and money markets, and understanding their impact on business finance.
  • Module 5 - Understanding and Using Cost Information for Decision-Making Using cost data for pricing, budgeting, cost control, and proftability analysis through break-even and cost behaviour insights

Dr. Madan Survase, PhD (Economics, Symbiosis nternational University), is Associate Professor and Area Chair of Economics at ISB&M with 17+ years of academic, research, and corporate experience. His expertise includes nancial inclusion, SDGs, and ESG practices, with publications in Scopus/ABDC journals and leadership in international conferences and CSR initiatives.

Dr. Manoj Sharma

PhD in Management (Finance) from the University of Rajasthan and brings over 22 years of experience, including 19 years in academics and 3 years in industry. An author of two textbooks and holder of four Indian patents, he has 15 research publications, multiple Scopus-indexed papers, and international teaching exposure through the EU-funded ERASMUS+ Project in Northern Ireland.

Amit Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the domain of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management at ISB&M, Pune. A BTech from Ranchi University and MBA graduate from IIT (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad went on to complete his doctoral studies in the HR Area from Vinod Gupta School of Management at IIT Kharagpur. His research interests include High-Performance Work System, Job Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, HR Analytics, and Diversity & Inclusion. He has presented his work at several national and international conferences.
